cizvitler oldukça güçlü bir tarikattır ve özellikle "beyaz adam"ın yeni dünya'yı işgalinden sonra yerli halkların katolikleştirilmelerinde önemli bir rol oynadılar. gün gelip iyice cizvitler palazlanınca katolik kilisesi tarafından tarikat feshedildi. daha sonra her ne kadar affedildilerse de asla eski ihtişamlı günlerine geri dönemediler.

işte film bu çözülme dönemini anlatıyor. bir dönem filmi olarak oldukça iyi ve filmin müzikleri tek kelime ile muhteşem -eh, ne de olsa ennio morricone'nin elinden çıkmış. kısacası izlemeye değer bir film.
